Overview
For the leaders shaping the future of education
School and system leaders are carrying more than ever. Staffing pressures, increasing classroom complexities, student wellbeing, community expectations, funding constraints and constant change are all part of the landscape leaders are working within.
We work with schools and systems to develop the leadership capability that makes a genuine difference, from the emerging middle leader finding their feet to the system leader building a culture that can sustain itself through change.

What kinds of school and system leaders do you work with?
We work with leaders at every level: classroom teachers moving into leadership, middle leaders, principals, deputy and assistant principals, superintendents, district directors and system CEOs. Programs can be designed for a single school, a network of schools or an entire system.
Do your programs work for all types of schools?
Yes. We work across government, public, independent and faith-based school systems all over the world. Programs are co-designed around your specific context rather than a fixed curriculum, so they work across different governance structures and cultures.
Can individual school leaders join a program, or is it only for organisations?
Both. Individual school leaders can access 1:1 development and AI-enabled learning tools directly or join open programs running throughout the year across certain regions. Organisations and systems can commission co-designed programs for cohorts or whole networks.
How do you measure the impact of your programs?
We build evaluation into every program from the start, not as an afterthought. This includes pre and post leadership assessments, session feedback, and where relevant, 360 feedback from the leader's team. Our case studies show consistent results: across our programs, more than 99% of participants report improving their leadership.
We have tried leadership development before and it hasn't stuck. What makes BTS Spark different?
Often leadership development doesn't stick because it is one-off: a workshop, a conference session, a training day that leaves little trace by the following week. Many of our programs are sustained over months, grounded in real work rather than theory, and focused on shifting mindsets rather than adding skills on top of an unchanged way of thinking. That is what makes the difference.
What is the Mindset Map and how does it shape your programs?
Our Mindset Map is a framework of 30 leadership mindsets drawn from over 150,000 coaching conversations and decades of research into what actually drives lasting leadership change. Each mindset represents a shift that evidence shows makes a genuine difference to how leaders lead from how they relate to their staff and communities, to how they think and make decisions under pressure. Rather than delivering a fixed program, we use the Mindset Map to co-design development journeys around the mindsets most relevant to each leader's context and career stage. For school and system leaders, that might mean focusing on difficult conversations, resilience or building leadership depth across a team.
Testimonials
“Through thoughtful guidance and structured sessions, I was able to explore new perspectives, refine my leadership approach, and gain greater clarity in navigating challenges. The programme provided a supportive space to think critically, grow in confidence, and apply practical strategies that have had a lasting impact on my role.”
Lorna McGregor

"The residential was by far one of the most powerfully affecting events I've attended... The workshop facilitators were exceptionally skilled at creating a safe space in which we could all explore deep introspection - we got so much out of the two days as a result."
James Higham
CEO, Transforming Lives Educational Trust
"I always come out of my coaching sessions feeling optimistic, confident, capable, buoyant, and reacquainted with my love of education - because sometimes that disappears with the stress of the job... I come out feeling optimistic and that I can carry on doing the job I'm doing."
Christopher Lamb

Laura Crossley

"My coach's insight, listening and intellectual connection and sophistication about the intricacies of systemic leadership against human leadership was something I could not have been successful on the NPQEL without. And indeed in my role. Incredible."
